Vince Staples took a moment during his set in Austin to criticize Spotify, The Austin-American Statesman reports. “Shoutout to Spotify,” he said. “Thank you for giving me this check to make up for what you’ve done to me and all my musical friends.” Later, “listen to your favorite album 1,000, 2,000 times so everybody can get an album sale.”

This isn’t the first musician to speak up. Joanna Newsom spoke out against Spotify with similar criticisms, calling it a “cynical and musician-hating system” and “the banana of the music industry.”

Jay Z recently removed the entire Blueprint series from the streaming service (obvious relation to Tidal leaves him more inclined to take action).
